The Noel Buxton Trust

Family grants programme

This fund is currently closed to new applications

We are allocating our funds 2024, to support three organisations: Family Rights Group, Respect and Staying Put. In different ways, they will use our grant to strengthen their important work of listening carefully to the people they serve and amplifying their voices so that they can be heard clearly by practitioners, decision makers and the public.

Family Rights Group promotes policies and good practice around ending domestic abuse. Their Young Persons’ Service trains local authorities and other agencies to help young people address their use of violence in close relationships, including within their family. Our grant will help establish a Co-production Group of young people, so that their experiences, and those of parents and carers, can help shape the ongoing work of the Service.

Trustees hope that our occasional reflections with Family Rights Group and Respect in the coming months will help highlight some of the progress and challenges in improving the lives and life chances of children and families involved with the child welfare and family justice system.

Respect  promotes policies and good practice around ending domestic abuse. Their Young Persons’ Service trains local authorities and other agencies to help young people address their use of violence in close relationships, including within their family. Our grant will help establish a Co-production Group of young people, so that their experiences, and those of parents and carers, can help shape the ongoing work of the Service.

Staying Put works to preserve and protect the safety of people surviving domestic abuse. We are contributing to their collaboration with Family Action and WomenCentre.  Our grant contributes to their trauma-informed support for mothers and children in a refuge, where we are funding a sensory room.  We are also funding items to help children with the transition to independent living when they leave the refuge.

Trustees hope that our occasional reflections with Family Rights Group, Respect and Staying Put will help highlight some of the progress and challenges in improving the lives and life chances of children and families involved with the child welfare and family justice system.  We hope to review our funding plans towards the end this year.
