The Noel Buxton Trust

Investment strategy

Our investment policy at Noel Buxton Trust is centred around supporting our charitable efforts by adopting a prudent approach to managing our endowment, with the emphasis on delivering growth in income and capital above the long run inflation rate.

We believe this is best achieved predominantly through investment in equities. We manage the endowment ourselves investing via collectives, both open ended specialist charity vehicles and, more recently, low-cost Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and listed Investment Trusts.

In addition to growing our capital and income, we also have a commitment to investing with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues in mind, particularly sustainability. We are aware of the importance of keeping costs down, both in terms of the underlying vehicles we invest in and avoiding unnecessary trading. We have also been diversifying our endowment’s investments outside the UK, having recently added US equity exposure following the market correction in 2022.

James Buckley is our trustee with relevant expertise and responsibility for monitoring the endowment’s investments, but decisions are taken collectively and discussed at board meetings.
